This project aims to understand more about TB that affects diverse populations surrounding of São Paulo (São Paulo, Araraquara) and Mato Grosso do Sul (indigenous and non-indigenous) states, evaluated patients with pulmonary tuberculosis treated in their respective Arnbulatories and Health Services. It will be performed: 1) sputum baciloscopy; 2) Mycobacteria isolation through CULTIVO (BACTEC and LI); 3) species identification through biochemical proof and molecular techniques (PCR and PRA); 4) determining resistance profile/sensibility of mycobacteria strains identified as M tuberculosis against isoniazid and rifampicin drugs; 5) determining the drugs MIC against the clinical isolates of M. tuberculosis; 6) to perform SSCP technique of resistant strains: 7) to perform sequencing of resistance genes to evaluate mutations; 8) to perform molecular typing of M. tuberculosis strains through of MIRU and spoligotyping techniques and 9) to correlate the molecular epidemiology results with classical epidemiology data with the assembly of a database.
