Abstract

The National Curriculum Guidelines of medical education asserts that healthcare professionals should be able to develop prevention, promotion, protection and rehabilitation, both individually and collectively, the three levels of care (primary, secondary and tertiary). The FMUSP fosters the teaching- learning in Primary Health Care (PHC) during the 1st (APS I) and 3rd year (APS II) medical graduation. Among the activities developed during the first year, students´ groups perform community interventions for health promotion in five Basic Health Units (BHU). Objective: to analyze the community interventions developed by medical students in APS I discipline, according three perspectives: a) the health needs, b) the principles of health promotions e c) the core competences of health promotion. Method: documental analysis, which documents are the groups´ reports written and delivered by the medical students in 2012. The planned steps are: floating reading the reports, recognition of units of analysis (health needs, health promotion principles and competences for health promotion), and subsequent categorization final evaluation (with depth, connection and expansion). The project will also use concept maps to organize the results. It is hoped that the knowledge produced could strengthen and to signal improvement opportunities for community-based learning in medical education. (AU)
