Abstract

The visit of Dr. Ana Cláudia Suriani da Silva to UNICAMP is connected to the thematic project, more specifically to the research area entitled "The movement of novels between Europe and Brazil in the 19th century". The goals of this research area are to investigate the critical reception of novels in England, France, Portugal and Brazil as well as to identify the narratives of greater impact. It seeks to examine consonances and dissonances in the assessment criteria employed by literary criticism in those four countries, as well as in the preferences in terms of novels of European and Brazilian readers. On her visit to UNICAMP Dr. Suriani da Silva will continue her research about newspaper serials (feuilleton) published in fashion magazines in circulation in Rio de Janeiro in the 19th century. Its goal is to determine if there was a predominance of foreign or Brazilian authors and to analyze the relevance of the publication of serials for the longevity of fashion magazines. (AU)
