Abstract

The Hospital Universitario at USP started 5 years ago the Clinical Research Center with grants from of the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA-Brasil) which is located on the fourth floor of this facility for activities towards to the participants not only the ELSA-Brazil, but other cohorts as analyzing survival after acute coronary syndrome (ERICO), survival after stroke (EMMA), following people with reduced kidney function (PROGRESS), the grade of atherosclerosis among patients with psoriasis (CALIPSO), an observational study of vegetarians (ADVENT) and other studies with fewer participants. These five studies had been or are being funded by FAPESP and part of the ELSA-Brasil is also funding by FAPESP. In addition to these studies, the Clinical Research Center receives other projects of University allowing the use of the facility and equipment. In July 2012, the Clinical Research Center became a Nucleo de Apoio a Pesquisa of USP called "Center for Epidemiological and Clinical Research" keeping the same original features. In addition to the existing area on the fourth floor of the building there are three more local Clinical Research Center and Epidemiology: laboratory processing of biological material, bio-repository and computed tomography in cardiology. This request seeks to renew the facilities of the lab room processing of biological material on the second floor of the building, within the Clinical Laboratory Service. (AU)
