Abstract

The research aims to identify how entrepreneurs create, develop and achieve the business sustainability around the sports event arena. The specific objectives are: (1) examine which are the aspects that motivate the entrepreneurs to develop their own business, stimulating for big sportive events; (2) understand the reasons of strategies that entrepreneurs utilize to identify and explore the opportunities around big sports events; (3) identify which are the difficulties, obstacles and the facilitate aspects that entrepreneur face during the process of creation and develop of the business; (4) identify how the entrepreneurs mobilize necessary resources for business creation and development, and (5) analyze the management aspects of the sports events. The research is qualitative and exploratory, also comprehend twelve cities that will house the World Cup 2014, such as: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Brasília, Manaus, Recife, Porto Alegre, Fortaleza, Natal, Salvador e Cuiabá, counting with researchers participation established in different Brazilian regions. The intention is to analyze two cases about sports events in the 12-house cities of the big event, forming 24 cases. The criteria to select the cases are: (1) map together with official members of each city, which and how many companies was born and will be born around the sports events; (2) small companies, between 10 - 49 employees (IBGE/Sebrae); (3) official sector of commercial and services; (4) created by sports event motivation. The data collection will be though interviews with the owner of the business, moreover the observation will be in loco. The data will be treated though content analysis ( Bardin, 1977) and organized into categories of responses, whose aim is to create, by means of the search results, a typology for sustainable business entrepreneurs. This typology may bring contributions to motivated entrepreneurs in creating their own business. (AU)
