Abstract

The main goal of the current proposal is to promote the collaboration between Tânia Marcia Costa, professor at the Litoral Paulista Campus of the Universidade Estadual Paulista (CLP-Unesp) and Alvaro Montenegro, assistant professor at the Geography Department of the Ohio State University (OSU) during three, two-month periods in 2014, 2015 with potential for an extension to 2016. The collaboration will occur within the scope of projects presently being led by each proponent and is based on the development of high resolution future climate, projections for the São Paulo coast and the adoption of these projections in the study of changing mangrove and shelf ecosystem dynamics in the region, particularly aspects related to crustacean ecology and behavior and the shrimp fishery. A secondary goal is to, over the same period, strengthen the already existing links between the two proponents and project collaborator Maria Lucia Negreiros Fransozo, full professor at the Zoology Department at the Unesp Botucatu Campus. The collaboration with Fransozo is also related to the impact of climate change along the state's coast with an emphasis on ocean acidification, in this context, the proposal requests funding for a visit by one of Fransozo's post-doctoral fellows to OSU.
