Abstract

To understand better the origin of hadron mass modificationand restoration of chiral symmetry in a dense hadronic medium,I want to study the nucleon and hadron properties in a hot and/or dense nuclear medium.In particular, focusing on the role of the quark and gluon degrees of freedom as dictated byquantum chromodynamics,~QCD, I want to study the nuclear and hadronic phenomena,which are closely connected with experimental measurements.So far, although it may be regarded as a first crude approach, we have made extensivestudies on the properties of nuclei, and hadron properties in anuclear medium based on a relativisticquark model, the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model.A review and summary of the studies can be found in Prog. Part. Nucl. Phys. 58, 1 (2007).I would like to extend these studies further in the following directions. make a more direct connection with QCDby developing other methods and models such as the QCD sum rules, lattice QCD, and light front QCD.
