Abstract

Few national randomized controlled trials have established the effectiveness of pharmacotherapy follow-up (PF) in patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of PF by Pharmacotherapy Workup on clinical outcomes in patients with T2DM. Randomized controlled trial and longitudinal for a period of twelve months, in which 50 patients will be divided into two groups: 1) pharmaceutical intervention (n=25, attended by the protocol of PF) and 2) control (n=25, attended by the usual procedure of dispensing). Clinical outcomes: hypoglycemia, diabetic foot, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive emergency, A1c hemoglobin (HbA1c), blood glucose (BG), blood pressure (BP), total cholesterol (TC), HbA1c/BP, HbA1c/TC, waist circumference (WC) and body mass índex (BMI), and pharmacotherapy adherence (Morisky test) will be compared in both groups. The parameters sociodemographic, cultural and the drug-related problems will be identified. The clinical parameters (BP, FG, BMI, WC hypoglycemia and hypertensive emergency) will be evaluated: initial, 2 months, 4 months, 8 months and 12 months after the initial interview to both groups. HbA1c, TC, dherence e other parameters will be evaluated: initial and 12 months after the initial interview. The project aims to assess the clinical benefits of PF in care of the patient with T2DM and contribute to the training of pharmacists in this clinical practice. (AU)
