Abstract

Occupational therapy is a field of the knowledge dedicated to people who experience disruptions of daily life and it has in its constitution a rich and varied repertoire of technologies combined to produce humanized and effective care in different levels of health assistance. The interventions in this context constitute an important field of study for occupational therapy due to the impact of hospitalization in performing daily activities, the occurrence of the disease in the acute stage or complications of chronic conditions, either by impersonal and uniforming routine in hospital. The Occupational Therapist practice has been given in the context of public policy organization guided by the humanization, comprehensive care, coordination of network services and care lines. This study aims to understand the health care needs of adults with limited and/or temporary disabilities and/or permanent admitted in the Medical Clinic Wards of the University Hospital of USP and analyze healthcare practices carried out by the Occupational Therapy from April 2013 to June 2014. For the study will be used as parameters sector policies guided by humanization, comprehensive care and care networks that comprise the hospital as one of its stations. This is a qualitative research of an applied and descriptive nature, involving documentary study of retrospective and prospective records of assistance provided by occupational therapists. It is expected to broaden the understanding and visibility of the occupational therapy interventions in the general hospital of secondary level. (AU)
