Removal of toxic metals in water by means of induced co-deposition using tungsten for forming alloys corrosion resistant

Abstract

In this project it is proposed to synthesize and characterize tungsten alloys corrosion-resistant coating Industrial different physic-chemical conditions to evaluate the performance of removing metals such as iron, cobalt and nickel, which form alloys are very corrosion resistant when the co-deposited tungsten. The results of electro deposition will be evaluated considering the ability of removing metals from the liquid phase and the deposition efficiency with tungsten. The following methods will be used in the best leagues obtained, as follows: X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transformed for Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) with chemical analysis by Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX), Pycnometry using Helium and Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS). With the characterization of the alloys expected to get most of the properties of these solids adhering to be used in corrosion tests. The results will not only evaluate the alloys, but can help to define the procedures for electro deposition of other alloys of tungsten and / or molybdenum alloys. The substrates containing tungsten alloys in the application shall be investigated in corrosive environments such as NaCl, sea water and in acidic and alkaline. (AU)
