Abstract

The work plan of the visit of Professor Martine Guibert aims to contribute to the development of the following research projects: Regular Research Grants FAPESP Nº 2013/09143-9, entitled "Used territory and accumulation by dispossession: land grabbing and modern agriculture production in Brazil and Argentina"; CNPq 470751/2013-4, entitled "Financial capital and territorial resources: new agents in scientific agriculture and globalized agribusiness in Brazil and Argentine, both coordinated by prof. Dr. Samuel Frederico (UNESP); Capes Cofecub Project, "Financial capital, land grabbing and modern agriculture production, coordinated by prof. Dr. Ricardo Castillo (UNICAMP) and the Project "Changes in sugarcane paradigm: the productive restructuration and new territorialities (CNPq grant), coordinated bv prof. Dr. Júlia Adão Bernardes (UFRJ). The visit visa also to consolidate the Research network on agricultural regions - REAGRI (www.ige.unicamp.br/geoplan/reagri/). Among the planned activities are a field work in the Brazilian agricultural frontier, research meetings and lectures in UNESP (Rio Claro) and UNICAMP, and a concentrated class in the Graduate Program in Geography (UNESP - Rio Claro).The fieldwork in Mato Grosso aims analyze the modern agriculture and the frontier expansion dynamics, in particular on the BR-163 axis. In the opportunity, the Visiting researcher will can analyze the differences and similarities between Brazilian and Argentinian agricultural frontier. In the fieldwork we will can to exchange experiences and impressions about the investigated reality, and we will can to deepen theoretical issues and to operationalize some concepts, like: scientific agriculture and globalized agribusiness, agro-industrial network, filiére, value chain, productive espacial circuit, agriculture frontier and agro-industrial logistics. Three meetings of research will also be conducted. The first one in the UNESP aims to discuss the point of views on fieldwork in Mato Grosso. The second also In UNESP visa to discuss the main theoretical frameworks and research methodologies developed in the projects. The third meeting in the UNICAMP are about practical issues and aims to consolidate the partnership between Brazilian and French team: development of new projects; publications; strengthening of Reagri, organizing a calendar of events and meetings; planning of the missions work of the Capes Cofecub; supervision of theses in cooperation of the Brazilian and French universities; and participation in national and international scientific meetings. The Visiting Researcher also will lecture in UNESP and UNICAMP, about "Globalization and agribusiness in Argentina, and she will give a concentrated lesson in the Graduate Program of Geography in UNESP.
