Abstract

Patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) present inability of the kidney to maintain normal product of protein metabolism, blood pressure and hematocrit, balance of sodium, water, potassium and acid-base. They have the cellular and humoral immune response and depressed so the existence of any changes in oral health may represent foci of infection. Periodontal disease is an inflammatory disease that affects the destructive periodontal tissues, and studies have shown that the prevalence of this is higher in patients with CKD compared with the general population. The monitoring of opportunistic viruses is an extreme importance, since they are related co morbidities in these individuals. The objective of this study is to analyze the presence of human herpes virus (EBV, CMV, and HHV8 HHV7) in saliva and gingival fluid of patients with CRF. Will be assessed 120 individuals with chronic renal disease divided into 3 groups according to the treatment stage renal disease. Patients will be evaluated clinical indices of periodontal disease such as insertion loss, probing depth, gingival index and plaque. Samples will be evaluated by real time PCR for herpesvirus. (AU)
