Abstract

The main goal of the present proposal is de development of novel materials to be utilized in sample preparation micro techniques. After optimization and validation, following international protocols, the proposed approach will be utilized in the analysis of samples of remarkable relevance in the food safety area.Three different types of materials will be investigated: (1) Molecularly Imprinted Polymers - MIPs, to be employed for the analysis of triazines and phenylureas in corn samples using different extraction techniques and formats such as "in-tube"-SPME, SBSE e MEPS; (2) Grafeno as sorbent material for MEPS ("Micro Extraction in Packed Syringe") - whose extraction efficiency will be compared with that obtained using commercialy available sorbents for the determination of pesticides in sugar-cane products; silica modified with ionic liquids (ILs) for the determinantion of sulfonamides in bovine milk, using miniaturized and hyphenated analytical separation systems such as on-line-SPE and "in tube"-SPME.In each individual case, after a selective extraction the analytes will be separated, identified and quantified through chromatographic techniques coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), already existent in the proponent laboratory.It is our hope that with the development of these novel sorbents (MIPs, graphene and ILs) and its use in different formats such as on-line SPE, in-tube SPME, SBSE e MEPS, more selectivity will be introduced in the sample preparation step, a critical step during the determination of residue and contaminants relevant to the food safety research area.
