This project, with estimated duration of 24 months, falls within a research line in the scope of transport and spatial data analysis, introduced by the proponent with inter-institutional participation and master's studies supervision, in progress and concluded. The project aims to continue the development of research that employs the use of geostatistics techniques to transport modeling. The main objective is to incorporate kriging techniques to forecasts modal choice, seeking reasonable probability estimation for modal choice in known and unknown geographical coordinates. Initially, the utilities functions of travel modes will be calibrated, considering: individual disaggregated characteristics, travel variables and home traffic zone characteristics, in order to estimate the probability of modal choice in surveyed households and determine the numeric variable to be kriging. The application of spatial data analysis technique (geostatistics-ordinary kriging) will be held through the modal choice probabilities obtained by discrete models choice, allowing the probabilities estimation of modal choice in unsampled households. The database to be used will be obtained from the Origin-Destination Survey undertaken in 2007/2008 in São Carlos city (SP). It is expected to bring academics benefits with reference work for future applications. (AU)
