Abstract

Professor Dr. Reiner Vianden is being invited as a visiting research scientist to participate in one of the research project about dilute magnetic semiconductors SnO2 and TiO2 doped with Ce e Gd. The project will be carried out in the Hyperfine Interactions Laboratory (LIH) of the Research Reactor Center (CRPQ) in IPEN. Dr. Reiner Vianden is one of the very a well-known scientists in the area of hyperfine interactions. He works in the Institut für Stralhen-und Kernfisik (ISKP) of the University of Bonn, Germany. The measurements of hyperfine interactions will be carried out the technique of Perturbed Angular Correlation (PAC) spectroscopy using 111In and 140La as nuclear probes to verify if these samples in fact present ferromagnetic order at room temperature. Apart from this research Dr. Vianden will also participate in the ongoing research in our laboratory about the investigation of intermetallic compounds containing rare earth elements. During the period of his visit to our laboratory Dr. Vianden will give a mini course for students and researchers of our laboratory covering different aspects of research in the area of hyperfine interactions.
