Abstract
In recent years new functions of EICs have been described, but much still needs to be researched on these lipids. This Thematic project aims to explore new aspects of EICs in six distinct and innovative subprojects. We will investigate the production and functions of EICs in five of them: (i) Investigation of the involvement of eicosanoids in chronic unpredictable stress-induced depression; (ii) Profile of macrophages, eicosanoid metabolism and tumor-associated activity; (iii) Relationship between activation of the inflammasome, production of lipid mediators, lung inflammation and death induced by scorpion venom; (iv) Involvement of aryl hydrocarbon receptor in the polarization of Treg, Th17 and Th22 cells and eicosanoids production in Histoplasma capsulatum infection; (v) Evaluation of the involvement of 5-lipoxygenase metabolites in Achromobacter xylosoxidans pulmonary infection. The last, (vi) Eicosanoid lipidomics from leukocytes of healthy individuals, aims to determine values of EICs production by leukocytes of healthy subjects for future comparison of production by patient's cells. This Thematic will be carried out by a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional and transnational team, with confirmed competency in different areas of the subproject, linked by a common topic, which is the study of new functional aspects of EICs. Moreover, we intend to establish a core reference for identification of EICs, by mass spectrometry. (AU)
