Lambs finishing supplemented in semi-feedlot with corn silage from the intercrop with palisadegrass and pigeon pea and oat grazing in two oversowing modality

Abstract

This research is a continuation of Research Support - Regular (FAPESP Process number 2011/12155-3) and will be composed of two sequential experiments conducted during three cropping years in Botucatu, São Paulo State, Brazil. The aim will be to validate an integrated crop-livestock system to production of corn silage, with alternatives for subsequent pasture formation, aiming at finishing lambs in semi-feedlot. The experimental design of the first experiment will be a randomized block, with 24 replications, being two modes of corn cultivation for silage: in intercrop with palisadegrass and in intercrop with palisadegrass and pigeon pea cultivar BRS Mandarim, harvested at 0.45 m in relation to soil surface, and grains with 35% moisture. The experimental design of the second experiment will be in a split-plot scheme. The treatments of the first experiment constitute the plots and black oat cultivar EMBRAPA 29 (Garoa) overseeded by broadcasting or in row after harvest for silage constitute the subplots, where in both years will be allocated lambs for grazing in the method of rotational grazing with variable stocking rate and supplementation with ration (concentrate more silage of the same treatment). Will be evaluated the nutrition and fraction of the corn plants, the forage yield and silage chemical composition, the aerobic stability, the fermentability and silage digestibility, the dry mass and macro and micronutrients content in corn stalks remaining in the field, the morphological characteristics of the palisadegrass and pigeon pea; and the effect of oat overseeded on: dry mass yield, chemical composition, fermentability and digestibility of the pasture, morphological characteristics of the palisadegrass and oat; performance, ingestive behavior, biometric measurements in vivo, biometric measurements and carcass characteristics and meat quality of lambs, beyond the incidence of diseases such as hepatogenous photosensitization and parasitic infections (worms); macro and micronutrients content and release in the forages straw and its decomposition after desiccation in spring, changes in fertility, penetration resistance of soil and soil density, carbon stock in the soil, production and chemical composition of the waste produced by lambs where will be supplemented with ration, as well as, the land-use efficiency, the intercropping competition factors, and the economical viability of this system, and the estimated capacity to mitigate enteric methane in animal diets by technique of in vitro evaluation. Data of straw decomposition and morphological characteristics of palisadegrass and pigeon pea during the intercropping with corn will be adjusted by regression analysis. The other data will be submitted to ANAVA by F test and means were compared by LSD test (pd0.05). (AU)
