Research group on Renaissance and Contemporary music - Greco

This project concentrates on the investigation of the sixteenth, seventeenth, twenty and twenty first century music repertoire. Acknowledging a symbiotic relationship between theory and practice, it aims to research the conceptual and theoretical aspects related to the organology of ancient instruments parallel to the performance of contemporary repertoire, opening spaces for the creation of acoustic and electronic compositions. It will integrate two lines of research: 1)Style and interpretation of the sixteenth and seventeenth century music.2)The development and interpretation of contemporary repertoire. The objective of this project is to constitute a group of music creation and investigation at the Instituto de Artes, UNESP. It is divided into two parts: (1) focuses on the investigation of the repertoire of the sixteenth and seventeenth century music and (2) concentrates on the creative processes surrounding the interpretation of contemporary music and the creation of new repertoire. These processes involve a transterritoriality of instruments, the use of computer technology, analysis of the repertoire (ancient and contemporary) and artistic production. Although it is mainly concentrated in the music production, four areas will interact in a symbiotic manner: ancient music, contemporary music and musicology. (AU)
