Abstract
In this project is proposed the chemical study and evaluation of biological activities to search for bioactive compounds in plant species (mainly, Amaranthaceae, Gesneriaceae, Myrtaceae and Annonaceae) aiming integrated and continued studies within the chemical area of natural products with emphasis in the search for compounds (volatile and non-volatile) with a potential antimicrobial activity, antitumor or anti-inflammatory in the presence or absence of laser irradiation aiming to application in photodynamic therapy (PDT). To do so, the development of analytical procedures will be performed, including phytochemical study monitored by absorption analysis in the visible region of interest on PDT, assessing the photochemical efficiency, chromatographic profile, ESI-MS analysis and the bioassays. Proceed will be adequacy of biological testing methodology and procedures for assessing the biological effect photoinduced for natural products such as antimicrobial (against bacteria, fungi and protozoa), antiproliferative (against tumor cell lines and against non-tumor cells such as human keratinocyte and fibroblasts), and anti-inflammatory activities, so that the bioassay is likely to be applied to the separation methodology and characterization of bioactive chemical constituents present in the samples. Therefore, plant species will be collected and their extracts prepared, and then submitted to bioassays sequence, in order to select those with potential biological activity. The promising extracts in the bioactivity evaluation will be fractionated and for active metabolites purified their molecular structures will be determinated using spectroscopic methods of analysis (IR, UV-vis, NMR 1D and 2D and Mass spectrometry). In addition, the volatile oils from aromatic species could be obtained, which will be chemically analyzed using GC-MS analysis and subjected to the evaluation of the biological potential. Prospecting study will be performed for the research of bioactive agents accumulated in Brazilian plant species in order to contribute to sustainable use of biodiversity and obtaining new inputs and technologies for application in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and dental, aimed at possible development of drugs and medicines.
