Abstract

In this project we request funding for the visit of Dr. Ian Mackay to Brazil to know about the work that have been done in my group as well as in Dr. Antonio Augusto Franco Garcia group (ESALQ/USP) and, visit the sugarcane breeding program at IAC, located in Ribeirao Preto. During these visits, Dr. Ian Mackay will meet students and researchers and also he will present their research results and, discuss the ones that we have under development focusing on Molecular Breeding. Also, we will formalize a collaboration UNICAMP- ESALQ/USP - IAC through the completion of the project to be submitted (september) for funding from the BBSRC-FAPESP agreement. This project is the result of my one-year sabbatical stay (August 2014 to July 2015) in Dr. Ian Mackay group in the area of Molecular Breeding, at the National Institute of Agricultural Botany in Cambridge, UK. The visit of Dr. Ian Mackay to Brazil is extremely important to reinforce and validate the project to be submitted soon, because it will allow him to meet the research groups, to see our infrastructure, students and researchers in Brazil, who will work in the project as well as the breeding program involved in the project to be developed in collaboration. We will use the visit of Dr. Ian Mackay so that it presents a lecture at the International Plant Molecular Biology to be held in Foz do Iguaçu, 25-30 October 2015. His lecture will be given on 10.26.2015, in Genetic and Genomic session Variation, coordinated by me. (AU)
