Abstract

The visit of Dr. O. E. Raichev will be very helpful for support of the research conducted in the New Semiconductor Materials Laboratory of the Institute of Physics of the University of Sao Paulo (LNMS-IFUSP). Dr. O. E. Raichev is a Leading Research Scientist of the Department of Theoretical Physics in the Institute of Semiconductor Physics, Kyiv, Ukraine. He is a theorist whose contribution in the non-field of low-dimensional electron systems and nanostructures, in particular, quantum transport theory for these systems, is recognized worldwide. The present research project assumes development and implementatipon of new methods of studies of two- dimensional (2D) electron systems under microwave irradiation. The project is focused on the fundamental physics, so its primary goals are: search for new physical phenomena, extension of the knowledge in the field, and experimental verification of the existing theories. The practical benefits of the project depend on possible applications of quantum wells as detectors in microwave and terahertz regions of frequencies. (AU)
