Abstract

This project is a comparative study of indigenous "cosmopolitical diplomatic events". We borrow the expression "cosmopolitical diplomacies" from Sciences Studies field, especially from the writings of I. Stengers and B. Latour in order to try out a partial connection between those studies and americanism ethnology. What leads us to this is the issue, faced in diverse ways by both areas of knowledge, of the "ontological pluralism" and its incidence in order to think politics, that is, the composition (and dissolution) of collectives and its articulation in "common worlds" or "networks". In dealing with "cosmpolitical events" by means of ethnography and comparative fieldwork, both never to be dissociated, we center our focus on the aesthetical dimension and on the forms of expressions by which collectives and characters are "made to appear". If most cases dealt here come from the Amerindian world, we also include as a counterpoint a study of an afro-amazonian collective, meaningfully inserted in amerindian networks. (AU)
