Abstract

Sol gel process is an alternative to prepare hybrid materials with the incorporation of inorganic component inside of porous in the organically modified silicate (ormosil) matrix. A second manner to produce hybrid materials is through electrostatic layer-by-layer self-assembly technique where multilayers films can be obtained alternating cationic and anionic species. The purpose of the present project is to investigate electrochemical reactivity of organic inorganic hybrid films, produced by these two forms, containing a Keggin type polyoxometalate (POM) toward two pesticides: ametryn and hexazinone. Two POMs will be tested: phosphomolybdic acid and silicic tungstate acid. Cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry are two electrochemical techniques chosen to explore the electrochemical reactivity of the films. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy will be used to characterize ormosil samples in powder form. In addition, we use Polarization Modulated infra-red reflexion absorption spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy to probe the films produced. Morphological features from the hybrid films can be explored using Scanning Electronic Microscopy. With the results obtained here, it is hoped to develop hybrid materials able to detect pesticides. This project aims to start the researches activities of the proponent in the Center for Agricultural Science from Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) where he is recently Assistant Professor.
