Abstract
The processing of alloys in semisolid state, SSM, is nothing more than forming of the metal in the mush condition. Among the main processes stand out rheocasting and thixoforming that compete with die casting technology (permanent mould injection). Such processes have gained market particularly in East Asia and much has been done in terms of development of new alloys and raw materials production processes, but there is little information on the mechanical behaviour beyond the conventional tensile tests. As these processes are mostly used for producing structural parts for aeronautical, naval and automotive industry, to evaluate the fatigue resistance of the parts produced is paramount important to ensure and disseminate the use of this technology. This proposal aims to evaluate the effect of processing parameters of these much metals on the fatigue behaviour for the several alloys developed. (AU)
