Abstract

The project is proposed based around demonstrations of the applicability of our capabilities to DI-DF with the objective of obtaining more significant future projects in collaboration with industry and research agencies in our respective countries. Specifically, we aim to demonstrate the capability to make laser-based measurements relevant to DF-Dl in our high pressure chamber, and to validate USP's advanced combustion models against both the spray-chamber experiments and against selected DNS databases. This will result in joint journal papers, and once these capabilities and the partnership are demonstrated, we will seek industry partners, with Westport and BG Group being the likely targets, and apply for larger joint grants. The funding will be mainly used to support research exchange with a small amount being applied towards experimental consumables. (AU)
