Abstract

For ethical and regulatory reasons, in vitro tests for scoring potential toxicities of cosmetics are essential. Despite estimates indicating that sensitivity to fragrance products is common, the frequency of mucosal symptoms elicited by exposure to these products in the general population is unknown. Here, we will use a co-culture of BEAS-2B and macrophage cells to study effects of fragrances to know their sensitization effects on respiratory tract cells. We will study cytotoxicity through the MTT assay, LDH assay, Annexin V-propidium iodide staining (apoptosis assay), time and concentration of the fragrance that produced inflammatory mediators and CYPs. We will conduct measures using real-time reverse transcriptasepolymerase chain reaction, Western blot, ELISA and flow cytometry. (AU)
