Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the production errors present in the speech of children diagnosed with phonological disorder as well as to investigate the auditory perception of these subjects in relation to their own productions. Considering the existence of a common unit of representation, production and perception as the articulatory gesture - according to the Sign Language Phonology (Fonologia Gestual - FonGest) - the hypotheses of this work are: H1 -production of errors and speech perception in children with phonological disorders involving articulatory gestures instead of segments as a whole; and H2- there would be a sign correspondence in the production and perception of errors in children with phonological disorder. To develop this study, three experiments will be carried out: one of production and two of perception, which will be applied to 20 children with phonological disorder. The results will include the perceptual auditory judgement in speech productions of children, acoustic and sonographic analyses of these productions, the analysis of perceptual auditory performance in the experiments of identification and discrimination, as well as the correlation between production and perception errors. In addition to contributions for the study of the relationship between production and perception of speech, it is also expected contributions to the discussion in regards to the early phonological, discussions of interest to both the field of linguistics and for the speech therapy.
