Abstract

The development of functionalized nanoparticles (NPF) provides a wide range of applications in various areas of engineering materials such as energy example, medical, electronic, structural and mining. Such applications generally are in the scientific development threshold and therefore, have great potential to become disruptive technologies, attracting investors, moving the economy and generating new business opportunities. However, the industrial scale production of these materials also presents a technological and commercial barrier to its use is widespread in fact and leave the lab bench. Given this scenario, the first to overcome such barriers will be leading a high financial and strategic value market. The processes of NPFs synthesis of Fe3O4, TiO2 ZrO2 and developed in the first phase of this project have high reproducibility, scheduling, competitive cost while maintaining the quality and properties of the synthesis on a smaller scale. These characteristics are essential for these materials become commercial products of high technology and disruptive potential on national and international scale. For this potential to be achieved, are still necessary improvements and validation of methods of synthesis, post-synthesis processing, waste treatment, minimizing costs, in addition the insertion the market through partnership with companies and institutions that seek high-tech solutions may be customers. All these factors are objectives of Phase 2 project, and at the end of 2 years obtain the final commercial product, ie bottles containing different compositions of NPFs in different concentration and volume and according to customer demand. For the processes involved in the synthesis, from its conception to the final packaging, characterization and comparative analysis with an ideal standard certified by the company will be made, according to the yield, cost, waste volume and sample characteristics. Insertion on market will be carried out by mapping potential customers and sending samples for the product to be tested and if necessary be modified to meet customer demand. For each NPF a specific market will be seeked, according to their application possibilities, as follows:Fe3O4 - adhesives, polymers and medicineTiO2 - cosmetics, photovoltaic devices, thin filmsZrO2 - thin films, metal protection (corrosion and wear), gas barrierThe nChemi Materials Engineering Ltd., "startup" created in Phase 1 of this project, and has initiated the first steps towards a partnership with two other companies that may be customers of its technologies. The company also has the technical and structural support of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Electrochemistry and Ceramics at the Federal University of São Carlos (LIEC-UFSCAR) and Functional Materials Development Center (CEPID 2013 / 07296-2) which the laboratory is a key member. This support has been shown essential in the first phase of the project and is of fundamental importance in the development of phase 2. (AU)
