Abstract

The present project aims to evaluate the antimicrobial, antitumor and antiparasitary potential of plant species, endophytic fungi associated with these species and basidiomycete fungi that will be collected in the Atlantic Forest of the state of São Paulo aiming at the isolation of special bioactive metabolites. In this way, species belonging to the various plant families, associated endophytic fungi and basidiomycete fungi will be collected and their extracts will be prepared and then submitted to a sequence of bioassays, in order to select those that present potential biological activity, mainly antimicrobial action (antifungal and bactericidal) , antiparasitic (antileishmanial and anti-Chagas) and antitumor. Next, the promising extracts will be fractionated, the active metabolites purified by chromatographic techniques and the respective structures determined by spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques. In addition, the essential oils of the plant species will be obtained, which will be analyzed chemically and submitted to the evaluation of the biological potential. After identification of the active substances, they can be submitted to specific tests to define the mode of action of the active substances. In this way, the present project intends to add new compounds and / or extracts with proven pharmacological activity to the restricted phytotherapeutic therapeutic arsenal, adding value to plant or fungal species as well as the metabolites from the remaining areas of the Atlantic Forest of the State of São Paulo, aiming at Preservation of them.
