Development of Methodologies for Determine Brazilian Petroleum Properties and Onset Precipitation of Asphaltenes.


The Santos Basin has been standing out in the national scenario as the main producer (around 1 million barrels day) of oil in area known as pre-salt. Of these reservoirs are produced low density and high quality oils, however, hydrocarbon fluids contain high salinity and complex chemical composition, which requires technological challenges to avoid one of the most serious operational problems, the precipitation of asphaltenes in the production lines . It has been found that oils with low asphaltenes content are the most problematic with respect to the deposition in the ducts, is the case of those that are produced from the pre-salt. This research project proposes the development of methodologies and application of techniques capable of evaluate crude oil as water and sediment content (BS&W), determining physical and chemical properties such as viscosity, detect the onset precipitation by infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) ) and UV-visible, and also extract asphaltenes by the ASTM D6560 method and analyzing them by techniques of elemental analysis and high resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Therefore, the aim of this work is to develop methodologies and models that allow predict the onset of asphaltenes as a result of changes in chemical and / or thermodynamic conditions for oil from reservoirs in the Santos Basin and other regions of Brazil. Finally, it is expected that knowledge generated will be used for the petroleum industry to choose the best method of intervention in the well oil to avoid deposition of asphaltenes in the production pipelines.Keywords: petroleum, asphaltenes and petroleum analysis.
