Signs of risk and psychological distress in early childhood: identification and intervention strategies


The topic of identification and intervention in front of risks and psychological distress in early childhood is within the scope of promotion and Mental Health prevention, in an interdisciplinary perspective, since it covers Psychology, Psychoanalysis and Linguistics knowledge. Working on the assumption that language is structural and is the basis of the psychic constitution of the person, this research project aims to evaluate children with changes in interaction and language processes; investigate the scope and limits of the instruments of evaluation IRDI protocol and AP3, towards the inclusion of children with disabilities diagnoses and/or organic alterations historical and discuss early intervention proposals, in the relation between parents and children, towards psychological risks detection. This is an analytical and prospective study, which foresees the evaluation of children aged from 0 to 4 years old, during the period of one year, which involves clinic attendances of Centro de Estudos e Pesquisas em Reabilitação "Prof. Dr. Gabriel O. S. Porto", from Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (CEPRE/FCM/UNICAMP). The evaluation will be conducted through the use of IRDI protocol and AP3, which allows the evaluation and early detection of problems in child development, regarding interaction and language processes. Data collection will be conducted through semi-structured interviews with parents/caretakers and from children's interaction and language processes observation. It is hoped this research assists in the early detection of signs of risk and psychological distress in children with disabilities diagnoses and/or organic alterations historical. The hypothesis is that the evaluation and monitoring of these children enable the development of early intervention strategies in the relationship between parents and children, which involve the prevention of pathologies in the field of Mental Health.
