Abstract

The project outlined is focused on the background of Science, Technology & Innovation. The leading core of all scientific societies: (a) excellence in basic and applied research; (b) strong human resources formation in all fields involving biodiversity and natural products; (c) cooperation with the industry sector to accelerate technological innovation development based on natural products; (d) dissemination of knowledge on biodiversity and bioactive natural products for high school and other segments of our society; (e) contribution to support new actions of public policies for the conservation and sustainable use of our biodiversity. TaIking these into account the National Institute of Science & Technology (INCTBioNat) was created to map and catalog in an organized manner all scientific information on the secondary metabolites detected and/or isolated from our rich biodiversity, which is (are?) the keys to the development and advancement of the (research in) Chemistry of Natural Products research in Brazil. The knowledge and sustainable use of the Brazilian biodiversity was encouraged in the document National Biodiversity Policy, edited by the Secretariat of Biodiversity and Forests (SBF). Ministry of the Environment (MMA) in 2002 and has as priority the national economic and social development. The creation of a national network to (for) searching for, and mapping secondary metabolites from terrestrial and marine sources. (species of) and from microorganisms species of our biodiversity, constitutes a rational strategy for selecting the most promising active compounds for further pharmacological and toxicological studies pursuing the discovery of leading (aimed at Iead) molecules. To achieve these goals, the creation of an ICNTBioNat was established in order to bring (for conveying) together experienced seniors (researchers) and talented young researchers, who are beginning their careers in federal and state universities, in several states of the federation, embracing all regions of Brazil. The whole (every) team will work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach pursuing the (aimed at) strengthening of this essential and strategic research area for innovation and technological development of Brazil, through a network of natural product laboratories of excellence in natural products) aiming the exploration and sustainable use of the Brazilian rich biodiversity.
