Abstract

This project aims to conduct advanced research in the area of smart electricity grids, with focus on distribution networks. This is an up-to-date theme with strong economic and environmental importance, and intrinsically interdisciplinary feature. The effective implementation of an electricity smart grid depends on the robust interaction between researches in the areas of power systems, alternative energy sources, power electronics, networked control systems, optimization, communication, and information networks. This proposal brings together qualified researchers in all of these areas. In addition, and to the advancement of knowledge, seeks to create a laboratory environment in which they can perform essential experimental checks succeed theoretical and computational and before the field applications. Such an environment will also allow the study of aircraft electrical systems, which can also be characterized as a smart grid. In addition to serving as environment of academic activities, it is intended that this facility is open to other users, especially enterprises and institutions of research of Campinas and Sorocaba regions, many of which are very active in the area of smart grids.
