Abstract

The objective of this research is to study a simple configuration of a biological reactor with anaerobic, aerobic and anoxic zones associated with inactivation of microorganisms and oxidation of odoriferous compounds. A reactor with compartments separated physically by system of gas collection will be assembleded, which will provide the use of the biogas from the aerobic zone as electron donor for denitrification in the reactor. In addition, there will be a contact tank to carry out the inactivation of micoorganisms and oxidation of odoriferous compounds with peracetic acid. As a result of this research it is hoped to contribute to the treatment of wastewater with a simple, efficient and low cost system. (AU)
