Annual plan of application of the research contingency funds for institutional research infrastructure.

Abstract

Brazilian research in Physical Education was structured in the 1980s, and nowadays there are over 20 Master's and Doctorate courses and a growing national and international scientific production. In this process UNICAMP was a protagonist in the creation and consolidation of Post-Graduation Program in Physical Education, with the School of Physical Education - FEF-UNICAMP program being one of the most important and with greatest impact in the area.In 2011, FEF opened the Integrated Laboratory for Research, Teaching and Service (LABFEF) to increase its participation in national research and also to improve the use of space and equipment. LABFEF is a multi-user lab that serves all the faculty, researchers, undergraduate and graduate students from this and other schools, as well as agreements with national and international institutions, gathering research, teaching and services activities with various grants and funding.Current developmental stage in Physical Education requires appropriately equipped space so that research can be run, to maintain and at the same time ameliorate the status quo. Therefore, LABFEF is a priority for FEF and also an example of how a laboratory can be used by multiple users demonstranting cooperation and multidisciplinarity. Since its opening until the June 2017, approximately 120 research projects were carried out in this lab, resulting in several publications and even patents. Some projects require the collection of biological samples, as well as immediate treatment and storage after interventions. The creation of a specific site for biological samples collection will be important to maintain studies running without interruption and also diminishing the risk of sample losses. An air-conditioned room with refrigerator and centrifuge is required. In addition, FEF faculty and students have performed interviews, focus groups and observational studies with the aim of qualitatively understand Physical Education classes, interventions with physical exercise in social and cognitive aspects of the populations investigated and attitudes of students and teachers during classes. These investigations demand a room and equipment to conduct interviews / focus groups and class observations without loss of information and the possibility of recording high-quality sound and videos. Recordings with ordinary recorders without a microphone cause in some cases loss of information due to the impossibility of understanding all the words spoken. Therefore, aiming at providing adequate conditions to carry out such research projects, LABFEF intends to prepare its rooms with equipments that allow collection and stoarage of biological samples, observation, interviews and other similar procedures to be carried out.
