Abstract

For modern agriculture the use of advanced nutrient management technologies, as well as the use of appropriate inputs at various productive environments are essentials to maintain yield and sustainability in agricultural systems once it aims to produce food, fiber and energy for a growing world population of around seven billion people. The researches proposed in this project are inserted in this context. The research project is composed for two subprojects, with its own hypotheses and objectives, and it is directly relate to the general theme: "Special nitrogen fertilization managements in sugarcane, corn and common bean crops aiming to increase N use efficiency (NUE) and agricultural yield ". The differential of this project is related to the use of isotopic tracer for nitrogen, the 15N, when it is compared with other projects in the same research line conducted at other institutions, in Brazil and abroad. The Laboratory of Stable Isotopes (LIE) at CENA-USP has practical knowledge of more than 40 years, represented today by highly specialized modern laboratories, both in the enrichment of the heavy isotope of N (15N) and in the synthesis of different nitrogen sources ("conventional" and "non- conventional"), labelled with 15N. In addition, it has mass spectrometers (IRMS), special equipments for determinations of the ratio of the stable isotopes of N (15N / 14N) in different analytical matrices. The researches of this project are of interest of two agribusiness companies that have signed letters of adhesion and will support the development of the field works. (AU)
