Abstract

The major challenge in developing materials for biomedical applications is to obtain a material with excellent volume and surface properties. When inserted into the human body these materials should exhibit a good response and interaction with the medium. Studies about surface topography show that TiO2 nanotubes can improve the cell adhesion. The development of this research over the years, attended with the collaboration of several researchers from Brazil and abroad. Dr. Ketul Popat participed effective conducting the in vitro studies to evaluate the surface treatments performed that are part of the project CNPq Universal 486352-2013-7 "Incorporation of drugs to the surface of titanium alloys after TiO2 nanotubes growth (486352/2013-7)".
