Abstract

Population studies have often been used to infer hypotheses about the etiology of cancer and to identify risk factors, and data have been collected through Population-Based Cancer Registries. The goal of this study is to evaluate malignant neoplasms in the 18 cities belonging to the Barretos RHD, São Paulo. This will be an ecological time trend population-based umbrella study that was designed in six tasks. Task 1: In order to improve the completeness of the information in the RCBP-Barretos database, the intention is to request the probabilistic and deterministic linkage process with the database of deaths of the State of São Paulo belonging to the SEADE Foundation. This process will also allow for the possibility of identifying deaths that occurred in the State of São Paulo, from patients who used to reside in the 18 target cities of this study but could not have been identified in other reporting sources. Task 2: An evaluation of the quality of cancer occurrence information retrieved according to IARC criteria will be performed. Task 3: Gross, age-specific and standardized rates of incidence and mortality per 100,000 men and women will be calculated by tumor location. Task 4: The annual percentage change in incidence and mortality rates by tumor location will be determined. Task 5: Survival analyzes by tumor location will be performed using the Kaplan-Meier method. Task 6: Maps will be created and spatial patterns will be evaluated by calculating the Global Moran's Index by location of the tumor. (AU)
