Multi-method paleothermometry in sedimentary basins

Abstract

The main goal of this proposal is to foster the exchange of researchers with complementary expertise in paleothermometric methods from the Universities of Sao Paulo and Cordoba, ultimately aimed at establishing a methodology for the assessment of the thermal evolution of sedimentary basins, and to apply this concept to the intermontane basins of the Sierras Pampenanas in NW Argentina. In particular, we aim to reconstruct the thermal evolution in the vicinity of the Andean deformation front, to interpret and contrast thermal histories along different positions across the Central Andes and to evaluate the influence of Cenozoic synorogenic sediment accumulation on the maturation of potential hydrocarbon source rocks.
