Abstract

This project aims to study the political dimension of popularization of science and technology, and the social impact of popularization initiatives in some science museums of brazilian cities. The first approach will be a documental analysis of texts, discourses and plans of actions elaborated by the MCT (Ministry of Science and Technology) between 2003-2005, in order to re-construct the contents and identity a public policy of popularization of science and technology presented by the MCT in a national level. In a posterior stage of the research we will interview professionals in the area of science divulgation to validate the results obtained with the documental analysis, and to investigate the social impact of popularization of science campaigns actions in science museums.
