Abstract

The Brazilian electric sector has been passing through successive reforms in the search for an institutional model that allows the optimization of the use of the energy resources, conciliated with the goal of reaching a sustaining development. The energetic planning plays a fundamental roll in this context, thus studies and research designated to support the planning in the energy sector and the elaboration of mid and long term energetic policies have been gaining space among the Brazilian energetic sector’s priorities. The proposal of this work is to present an alternative for the mid term hydrothermal scheduling of the National Interconnected System (SIN). A methodology based on open loop feedback control (Martinez, 2002) will be developed, considering the stochastic aspects of the problem by the use of forecast models, allied to the good representation of the hydrothermal system that can be obtained with the use of deterministic optimization models under individual plants representation. The methodology proposed intends to approach, over all, the dynamic character of the system, considering the expansion plans and respecting the constraints of the hydrothermal plants individually. The performance analysis will be done through simulation of the operation, considering the hydro and thermal plants that compose the SIN, with its real operative constraints, in dynamic configuration and with the possibility of interchange and importation of neighboring markets.
