This research project aims to study the bars of spiral galaxies, in the context of triaxial dark matter halos. We intend to analyse the origin and evolution of bars as related to its interactions with the halo, which, not being spherical, should significantly influence the dynamics of the stellar disk. The effects of the halo on the bar will be approached with numerical N-body simulations. The interaction of the bar with spiral arms will be evaluated through an analytical approach of the density wave theory, applied to non-axisymmetric disks. From the observational point of view, we will use SDSS data and SOAR observations to determine paramaters related to the structure, kinematics, shape, orientation and velocity of the bars.
