This work is part of a main project, named Sworn (Official) Translation Lexicon, coordinated by PhD. Lidia Almeida Barros. The research lines are: Terminology, Translation studies based on corpora and Official Translation. The aim of this work is to analyze the lexicon found in school documents (diplomas, school transcripts, certificates etc.) translated from Portuguese into English by official translators. We also intend to observe if the lexicon used in translated documents is the same used in original documents. In relation to the English language, we intend to analyze the lexical differences between American and British English and the translator behavior. Besides that, we are going to study the sociolinguistic and cultural aspects underneath lexical similarities and differences found between the following pairs: Portuguese/English and British/American English.
