Abstract

To study the effects of topical 0.5% morphine upon corneal healing evaluating the expression of metalloproteinases-1,-9, and collagen type IV in ulcers experimentally-induced in rabbits. Two groups will be formed (n=14). One will receive topical 0.5% morphine and the other saline. Clinical evaluation, histopathology and immunohistochemistry will be assessed in different time points until corneal reepithelization. Parameters will be compared statistically (P<0,05).
