Abstract

Brazil leads the sugar-alcohol agronomic activits, detaining the leadership leading in all segments (sugar cane, sugar and alcohol). On the process of production are generated as by-product the bagasse, used for generation of energy by heating in boilers, resting at the end, the sugar cane bagasse ashes, nearly always, which are throwed out on the environment inappropriately. The Civil Building Industry present a great potential for reducing these problems, for its feasibility in incorporating these by-products on the materials of construction. The interest in this research is justified for the necessity of evaluation of using sugar cane bagasse ash (SCBA) in products for construction, meanly for high generation, as weel as for the positive preliminary results which atests its technical feasibility. Utilising SCBA as raw material in artifacts for urban infrastructure these residues wouldn't cause problems in public health. The evaluation will be made by physical, chemical, mechanical, microstructural and durability tests, which will give correct data for choosing apropriated artifacts for urban infrastructure and street furniture to be produced using SCBA. This research expects, at the end of analyses, to prove the technical feasibility of SCBA in urban infrastructure products, because it is one of the most deficient systems in the cities. (AU)
