The aim of this work is to analyse how semantic restrictions are related to syntactic ones in the construction of relative relations, looking for evidences that confirm the necessity of a review of Keenan and Comrie's (1977) accessibility hierarchy, proposed by Dik (1997). The sample of this research contains 44 Brazilian native languages, and each one has a descriptive grammar, a thesis or a manual to be studied. The corpus selected displays maximal genetic, geographic and typological diversity.
