Abstract

The present research intends to investigate and understand the experiences of anorexic and bulimic individuals - how they experience their bodies and such disorders, which are the meanings and senses of the use of their bodies and how they incorporate (or not) the medical and media views about that question. For that purpose, the intention is to follow some of these individuals through their experiences in a specialized eating disorder clinic, as well as work with several sources that provide a broad overview of the matter, concerning scientific production, the media and the internet, which is a producer of sociability and meanings (and re-signification) about the topic.
