Abstract

The caprine arthritis encephalitis (CAE) is a disease caused by a lentivirus. This disease has a tropism to monocytes/macrophages cells. It is important, because can infect the herds and generally induces the clinical manifestations to a cronicity. Caprine arthritis encephalitis virus can cause mammary gland effect like endurative mastitis. The aim of this study is to evaluate the sistemic and/or mammary alterations. First, 20 goats divided in two groups will be selected from 100 goats in lactation according to the results of immunodiffusion test to CAE. The results will be share in: group 1 animals non-infected and group 2 animals CAE-infected. For this evaluation will be performed: strip cup test, Califórnia Mastitis Test (CMT), bacteriological exam, count cell somatic of milk and the functional evaluation of the blood and milk leukocytes based on phagocytosis rates, intracellular hydrogen peroxide production, cellular death, immunophenotipagem of leukocytes, cytokines IL-4 and IFN-³ quantification and immunoglobulins IgG, IgM, IgA quantification.
