Abstract

The purpose of this project points to the real estate market and its current expansion strategies based on environmental demands. This central idea has been the target of interest through a specific case study analyzed around Florianopolis , where a large urban project raised to the level of " sustainable city " has received significant attention in recent years. This and other interventions raise at once two relevant issues to urban studies: one linked the concerns with a sustainable city model , in spite of the environmental, historical , urban and social aspects; the other is the expansion of a fragmented urban pattern whose human sphere of urban life is restricted and submitted by and social segregation pattern and the negation of the city. Thus, the aim of the research will focus on analyzing these kind of sustainable enterprises and its repercussion in cities. The main hypothesis looks a phenomenon that has been increasing according the environmental demands begins to introduce itself in the mass media, and, furthermore, that looks the real estate using it as a business strategy. For this, this work contextualize the emergence of an environmental paradigm as a category that will be articulated with neoliberal ideology to formulate an hegemonic agenda based on the term sustentability. Then, the work looks for point the evidences in Europe an Brazil about the mutations which the environmental narrative may bring to the comprehension of the city in these days.
