Abstract

The initial goal of this research project is the identification of new compounds with properties of anti-apoptotic and anti-inflammatory for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Next, it is planned to be carried out the synthesis and the biological evaluation of potential inhibitors.As a starting point, we will to synthesize some analogues of peptides Ac-YVAD, and Ac-DEVD, that are inhibitors of caspase-1 and caspase-3 respectively, using "one pot" multicomponent reactions.The first biological tests to be performed with the analogues synthesized should indicate new structures or changes in the skeletons of the molecules that can have higher inhibitory activity.This project relies on the close collaboration of researchers from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirao Preto of University of Sao Paulo, which will be responsible for conducting the biological assays with the synthesized compounds.
